For 3 stars, I did the design a website logo assignment. I thought this would be a great opportunity to make a logo for our agency, the Black Widow Agency. I made this logo very simply. I went on Powerpoint and put “BWA” in a textbox. I changed the font until I found one I liked. I then right clicked on the background of the slide and clicked “Format Background.” Here I changed the background of the slide to a deep red color. I also found an image of a black widow spider from Google that I felt would go well in a logo. I added this image to the slide, slightly overlapping the letter “W” with it. I had tried to use the spider instead of the “W” or the “A” but it looked better having all 3 letter in addition to the spider. After this, I put the presentation in play mode and screenshotted the slide. While screenshotting it, I used the selective screen shot to make the logo wider than a normal powerpoint slight which I think gives effect to my design. Next, I uploaded it to flickr to post here:
Here is a video depicting one of my internal struggles. It is a conversation with myself. I made this video by following this tutorial. It’s worth 5 stars. I hope you can understand why I have this struggle, and why I can’t stop what I’m doing.
This video is a verbalization of a internal conversation that Edie has with her self. It is her subconscious feeling badly about what she’s done but also her knowing why she had to do it.
For my 3 daily creates this week, I did breakfast selfie, 15 seconds batman, and made an inspirational poster with words I have said.
The breakfast selfie includes two chocolate chip eggo waffles as eyes, a pop-tart package nose, and a banana mouth. These are all framed by a frying pan face!
For 15 seconds batman, I actually did a couple attempts. I’m used to drawing lazily and my first two takes were just an outline of a head! So in my 4th 15-second interval, i finally got some sort of body for batman! (Tho, he is pretty scrawny…)
The inspirational quote was probably the hardest because I didn’t want to re-use any old quote that I had read before. I tried to get something a little more life-lesson ish. This way, it would be of a personal thing, and something I’ve said. I used this mountain and hill image to represent the different proportions of problems.
Check out my first PSA from the BWA in the WIDOW organization! I made it in iMovie for one of our community news updates. I think its definitely worth 5 stars
Here is a 5 star video for you all about a day in my life. I made it by taking pictures and videos of some of the things I did today. It started out pretty average, but then I had to cut it short to take care of some business..cleaning… Anyway, I made it by adding all these pictures and clips into iMovie and then adding the song “Rhapsody in Blue” to it. I wanted to make this video just so you could have an idea what my days can be like. Rather than explain it to you, I’ll let you watch it and find out! -Edie
An interview with Edie Waz. Made in iMovie.

For my video essay, I chose the movie “the postman always rings twice.” I chose this one because I had read the script for this story before and thought it would be nice be able to see what I had read come to life. Before watching it, I read Ebert’s “How to Read a Movie” and watched 4 of the videos on filmmaking. Those videos included:
The Top 20 cinematic techniques
Camera angles and technniques
Star Wars Continuity Mistakes
and Tarantino// from Below.
In order to make this video, I screenshotted some images from YouTube and Google and put them together in iMovie. I recorded myself in Audacity for one part and added that to iMovie. In another part, I did a voice-over straight into iMovie. I also used the 4kvideodownloader to download a video from YouTube of “the Postman Always Rings Twice” in order to add a clip from it into my video.
But, since this is a video essay, I don’t want to get too much into it, so I’ll let the video do the talking!
this video essay gave me a lot of trouble this week. I had a lot of problems trying to get the clips I wanted to use. I actually didn’t end up using my first choice because I could not get the clip. The next problem I had was getting the clips I downloaded into iMovie. I was finally able to get it all done, but its a little rougher than I intended.
