BWA at Work

This week we began our case files for the BWA which included me updating on my personal blog as well as our BWA blog.

While we were investigating the disappearance and possible catnapping of NoirCat. I updated you about our progress 4 times.

1. Beginning Our Work  2. Evidence   3. Updates  4. And End and A Beginning

I also updated the BWA website including these posts:

  • Help Find Noir Cat: a post including flyer I made in the beginning of our search for her.
  • Evidence 3: a post including a design I made of the box that deactivated NoirCats’s tracker
  • Scenes and Leads: a post including pictures from downtown Fred that I took .
  • Evidence 5: a post including pictures I obtained or designed for the soft paws
  • Piece of Mind: a post including a couple designed objects I did as well as some Grandma made.

I also with the help of my friend Aubrey Howland, submitted a  Assignment Bank Assignments which can be found here and here. I used the first assignment to make the “MISSING” poster for Noir Cat to help us find her in our Agency’s assignment. And I used the second to design the box that deactivated Noir Cat’s tracker.

Here is her helping me submit the assignments:

She also helped me submit two daily creates. One in which you draw a cell. The trick is it can be any kind of cell, plant, animal, jail, etc. And you only have 20 seconds!

The other daily create is one where you sing “Old MacDonald” but with more exotic animals than you ay find on a farm. This picture has it as “video” but I switched it to “audio” right before submitting it.

With both of these Daily Creates, I just wanted to spice things up a little, so I thought I would put a little twist in each one. I think they’re pretty fun!

WARNING

I made a warning poster for the maNIORpulators! (3 stars) I thought some people should get a fair warning to watch out for us. Hopefully it will keep some more men in-line.

I made it on Word, using wordart and importing our logo and pictures.

It was really easy and I hope you all like it :) Since the picture is a little blurry, here is a link to my poster Warning- Manoirpulators.

Resume

Between the Black Widow Bar and Black Widow Agency, I’m not in any need for a new job. Still, it’s always good to keep your resume updated and ready! I recently checked out mine to make sure everything was still up to date. Here it is, My Resume!

I made mine by choosing a theme on Word and just adding in the necessary and advised info. It’s very simple.

Maybe one day in the future I’ll actually get around to making a LinkedIn

My boards

Finally got on the boat and made a Pinterest this week! (2 stars) I can’t believe how much I love it! There’s so many great ideas for my bar and so many cute little kitties who remind me of Onyx! Check out my page here: Pinterest

It was so easy too! I just put in my email and made up a password. Then I looked up some stuff I think is cool or useful and clicked it. It just added it for me :)

Here are some of the things I re-pinned

Some Polish stuff that reminds me of my less well known grandma and growing up in Fishtown.

Then Some stuff that represent my style. There’s lots of great shoes and dresses I re-pinned as well!

And then some drinks/snacks/ other ideas that might be fun to try out at the bar sometime! I can’t wait.

BWA logo

For 3 stars, I did the design a website logo assignment.  I thought this would be a great opportunity to make a logo for our agency, the Black Widow Agency. I made this logo very simply. I went on Powerpoint and put “BWA” in a textbox. I changed the font until I found one I liked. I then right clicked on the background of the slide and clicked “Format Background.”  Here I changed the background of the slide to a deep red color. I also found an image of a black widow spider from Google that I felt would go well in a logo. I added this image to the slide, slightly overlapping the letter “W” with it. I had tried to use the spider instead of the “W” or the “A” but it looked better having all 3 letter in addition to the spider. After this, I put the presentation in play mode and screenshotted the slide. While screenshotting it, I used the selective screen shot to make the logo wider than a normal powerpoint slight which I think gives effect to my design. Next, I uploaded it to flickr to post here:

A Conscience Fight

Here is a video depicting one of my internal struggles. It is a conversation with myself. I made this video by following this tutorial. It’s worth 5 stars. I hope you can understand why I have this struggle, and why I can’t stop what I’m doing.

This video is a verbalization of a internal conversation that Edie has with her self. It is her subconscious feeling badly about what she’s done but also her knowing why she had to do it.

A Day In My Life

Here is a 5 star video for you all about a day in my life. I made it by taking pictures and videos of some of the things I did today. It started out pretty average, but then I had to cut it short to take care of some business..cleaning… Anyway, I made it by adding all these pictures and clips into iMovie and then adding the song “Rhapsody in Blue” to it. I wanted to make this video just so you could have an idea what my days can be like. Rather than explain it to you, I’ll let you watch it and find out! -Edie

Ringing Again

For my video essay, I chose the movie “the postman always rings twice.” I chose this one because I had read the script for this story before and thought it would be nice be able to see what I had read come to life. Before watching it, I read Ebert’s “How to Read a Movie” and watched 4 of the videos on filmmaking. Those videos included:

The Top 20 cinematic techniques

Camera angles and technniques

Star Wars Continuity Mistakes

and Tarantino// from Below.

In order to make this video, I screenshotted some images from YouTube and Google and put them together in iMovie. I recorded myself in Audacity for one part and added that to iMovie. In another part, I did a voice-over straight into iMovie. I also used the 4kvideodownloader to download a video from YouTube of “the Postman Always Rings Twice” in order to add a clip from it into my video.

But, since this is a video essay, I don’t want to get too much into it, so I’ll let the video do the talking!

this video essay gave me a lot of trouble this week. I had a lot of problems trying to get the clips I wanted to use. I actually didn’t end up using my first choice because I could not get the clip. The next problem I had was getting the clips I downloaded into iMovie. I was finally able to get it all done, but its a little rougher than I intended.
